Ma va’ là podcast #3 Nowruz edition: music and more music (with two intermezzos)!
We don’t know if a bi-monthly recurrence is common for podcasts but it sounds like a good timing for us. This third podcast is mainly about music – with two different intermezzos.
Recording conditions are never the best possible but, as you know, we have this punkish attitude that keeps telling us that it’s better to have something published for you to listen to instead of aiming for perfection (that never exists anyway).
This podcast comes just a few days before spring (imagine our happy faces after a long winter!) that coincides with Nowruz, the Persian New Year’s Day: we are happy to be in Iran at this time.
And here are a few links for those who want to take a deeper look on some of the subjects we are talking about in the podcast:
- Group Gənclər, the Azeri musicians for our private concert (thanks!)
- Iranian traditional instruments: santur, tonbak and kamancheh
- Zoorkhane rituals
- Haji Firuz and Nowruz traditions
A special mention to the youngest musicians on our podcast: Nima (santur) and Pouya (tonbak): thanks for sharing with us your passion for music!
The opening and closing theme is always Rotte distratte, composed and performed by Rocco de Rosa, great musician and friend.
Enjoy! Eydetun mobarak! Happy spring!
